About us at Operation Experience

While a beautiful home to many, growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland has a few disadvantages. However, there are geographical boundaries that keep many of our kids from accessing all Maryland and the surrounding areas have to offer. From poor or no transportation to financial limitations, many children from the shore are unable to "keep up" with their western shore counterparts when it comes to experiencing new opportunities. And on the other end of this topic, there are many historical and enriching places within a 30-60 minute drive from Salisbury MD, such as historic Snow Hill where you can visit the Pocomoke River, with depths ranging from 7 to 45 feet and a width of less than 100 feet. It is rumored to be the deepest river for its width in the world!

The Henry's Hotel in Ocean City MD is most likely something you've driven my hundreds of times on the way for some Thrasher's fries. Did you know that SUPER famous Black musicians, such as Louis Armstrong came there to perform?

While there's a big world out there, there is also so much to experience right in our backyards. We want to support kids and families to explore it all- locally and beyond!

Our mission is to:

A bit about us...

Ben Stewart, Head of Operations

Ben Stewart was born and raised here. His family has a lot of history here. After high school, he ventured off to Job Corps in Pennsylvania. With trips to new places and meeting new people from different areas, he began to understand the importance of gaining experiences outside of his backyard, especially at a young age. In an area like this, it’s imperative that kids are shown healthy and meaningful alternatives to what might be a “popular” way to have fun. Ben has been in early childcare for two years and has learned so much about different families and diverse cultures. Mixing his early childhood experience with his skills as an uncle, he is excited about helping other kids from the shore explore new opportunities.
